The tutorial
Looker Studio is fantastic for working with several people on the same report. You can decide who can edit and view the report, and the same goes for the data source. Everyone gets their access and role.
One critical role is the Data Source Owner. The person who created the data source can decide if every report editor and viewer needs his access or if he can use the owner one. Usually, Data Source owners let everyone use their access so a report can be shared easily. But if the owner loses or revoke access to the connector, the Looker Studio data source stops working and every chart using it in a report shows this error :
When did the "The owner of this component's data source has revoked access to the connector" happen?
This error can happen for two reasons:
When the data source owner chooses to revoke the access, there can be multiple reasons, but it is usually security. An owner cannot determine who can access a data source individually, but he can revoke the access for everyone.
When the data source owner loses his access. This can happen when Looker Studio disconnects the data source or when a platform withdraws access to the owner.
How can the "The owner of this component's data source has revoked access to the connector" error be solved?
There is two way to solve this issue:
Contact the owner and ask him to reconnect the data source. He must reconnect it himself so other people can use the report.
If you can access the connector provider space where you link your account and are an editor of the Looker Studio data source, you can reconnect it yourself. You will then become the new owner.
To reconnect a data source, follow these steps:
Go to Resource.
Manage added data source.
Edit the data source.
Edit connection at the top left.
Select the account.
Clicks on Reconnect.
What to do if the problem persists?
This error should not persist if you reconnect your data source with the proper account.
